how beautiful!!! :iconveryexcitedplz: Would you mind telling me how far you would;ve been away from him to take this? I'm currently working with a Nikon, and basically am pretty much "in their face", at least noticeable. Would love a new camera, (special birthday coming up :giggle: ) will have to take some courses  but a superzoom, i can only dream of that, How far's your zoom? And was this taken with a Canon? Would love to know what camera do you recommend?

Thanks very much, I was actually pretty close to this owl. It sat for a few minutes and I got quite a few shots. I was using a Canon 40d and a 400 5.6 prime. I like Canon, but have many friends that use Nikon and their results are amazing. I know some with the 500 f4 lenses and they are excellent. I like the 400 because it is light. I have a Sigma 50-500 as well, but use it for wildlife only. If you look at the elk stampede shot, I used the Sigma for that. Both are reasonably priced. Not sure what the options are for Nikon in the 400mm range.
